Plenty of Drama as Townsville Heats Up Supercars Championship 12 Jul 2010 After narrowly escaping a points penalty after Saturdays 200km race at the Sucrogen Townsville 400, Ford's James Courtney further infuriated rivals by keeping top spot after finishing second in Sunday's 200km event behind fellow Ford driver Mark Winterbottom while Jamie Whincup's challenge was stalled by brake fluid dramas. After Whincup had whittled the series lead down to just 18 points with victory on Saturday, Courtney hit back by blowing the deficit out to 120 ahead of the season's critical endurance rounds. He leads the series on 1947 points ahead of Whincup (1827) and big mover Winterbottom (1623) while young Kiwi Shane van Gisbergen (1596) and Holden's Garth Tander (1509) round out the top five past the season's halfway mark. Barina lifts its crash safety rating 06 Nov 2008
GM Holden's small car Barina has lifted its crash rating, scoring four stars in the latest tests. The result has been welcomed by the company after the car scored just two stars - out of five stars - from the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) in 2006. Holden said the improved rating for the upgraded 2009 model reflected structural improvements and the addition of side impact airbags across the hatchback range. The ANCAP result was welcome as Barina was an important and significant vehicle for Holden in the small car market. Holden has sold more than 34,000 of the current model Barina since its Australian launch in 2005.
